Biography

. As a child I colored on walls with crayons. My mother strongly suggested I stop that, but now it seems I've come full circle. At 11 years old I painted my first oil still life in an art class. After more than 30 years, I still remember the excitement of exploring Art as a participant instead of an observer.

. When I began study at Mercer University in 1977, I thought I would study something "practical" but instead graduated with my BA in Painting (perhaps not so very impractical) studying with and assisting regionally famous painter and sculptor, Marshall Daugherty. I went on to receive a Masters degree in Art History which I find invaluable in my current mural work. I also spent an important year at Syracuse University as a post-graduate in Museology, museum techniques.

. In 1985, I became interested in faux painting while living in Boston's famed Back Bay. I owned two picture framing businesses there, Newbury Framers (on Newbury Street) with clients such as Domaine, Dyansen, Francesca Anderson and the Bloch Gallery. Also, Boston Frame and Mirror, a wholesale framing business located in south Boston.

. I was invited to the opening of a faux gallery and was hooked. I started faux painting everything I owned... even Pasha, my shop cat, was caught up, accidentally, in the faux frenzy! It was only a matter of time before I started to incorporate my landscape, still life and portrait painting.

. If you have a real passion for what you do, hobbies sometimes become vocations. I feel blessed that mine did. Today, my home/studio is a geodesic dome cabin in the woods beside Lake Sinclair in Central Georgia. I love the peace and quiet but I also look forward to the travel and activity that come when I'm working on a mural project.

. My hobbies include plein aire painting, quilting, computer graphics and web design .
